It's the Final Countdown!!!

Some of us teachers have a countdown for the days that are left until that certain freedom. You ALL know what that freedom is? For some it could be...The freedom of ....not reminding a certain student to put their name on their paper every single day. Hello...you should know your name by now and of course I can pick out each and everyone's handwriting. The freedom of....... not having to say Shhh! when you are walking in the halls. The freedom of.....not asking for volunteers to solve a problem. Of course everyone raises their hands but choosing...someone anyone that will get it right the first time. The freedom of...asking where your reading log is when you know it is due every Friday since August.... Oh....and The freedom of....MY alarm clock. I can't wait to sleep in, be a stay at home mom and stay home ALL DAY LONG, and read books all day long. Did I mention stay home all day long for about 3 months? Could someone speed the clock up for me, please?

For me this year the countdown means that I have 22 more "school" days to pack up all my personal stuff and haul to my storage unit (a corner of my garage picked out my husband). I have 22 more days to take down all my encouragement posters and Hawaiian motif. I have 22 more days to pack up my library of 400 books and put in my storage unit. Anyone want your child to read this summer, come on over!! They'll be in my garage...I have 22 more schools days to pack up all my school classroom materials, label them, and put in the cafeteria in hope that they will make it to its new location. Yup.. I am going to the new school close to my house that opens in August. Same position, though.

Busy week

Sorry no pictures. I have been so busy this week to a point where I am sure to have a nervous breakdown. First, I have a student teacher in my room over the next 10 weeks. I thought it would be a welcome relief to give her things to teach but I am more exhausted and it is tiring work. Then grades had to be put in and it was down over the Christmas break so I had a huge pile to get in. Parent teacher conferences were on Thursday. I didn't meet with alot. I met with most of my students'  parents. The one that I wanted to talk to of course didn't show. My own children are doing great in class. Brayden is started to read more and more each day. He is reading near the end of his grade level. Lyndee knows all of her alphabet and sounds. They finally let her check out a library book. Yippee! Day 5 -- Vacation

On Wednesday, our last day in the land of the heat. We went to the Mesa Southwest Museum. I guess it is call the Museum of Natural History. In all my years living in the valley and in Eagar, we never went to this museum. It rocked! I wished that I could take my students there. This room was all black with flourescent lighting. The kids could write on those white board with light wands. Whatever the kids wrote would be gone in about 20-30 seconds. It was pretty cool. I loved the interactive the stuff. I have been wanting to do this for years with my classroom. I have wanted them to create their plays. Then act them out in front of a green screen and then use a computer program to put their scenery in. I think I am going to find a grant and write one! Sister Lou loved being on T.V.
