Our weekend

Friday: We had a nice enjoyable weekend as family. First to start it off, we got our tax refund. Yay! Then my husband brought home flowers and cards for us all. He did this without being reminded that it was V-day. Nice bouquet of roses! Made me homesick for my roses at my old house. Then we took the kids out to dinner at Texas Roadhouse. We haven't been there since prekid days. I had the Roadkill. Who knew that chopped steak would be so yummy? Then we went to Kohl's to return my son's pants as he is really picky on pants. HE has to pick them out which I thought he did last week. Then we went to one of my favorite stores Deseret Book. I finally got my book that I wanted...The Undaunted.  Then we went home and I caught up on my DVR shows in the basement. Still have more upstairs to watch.

Saturday: We took the kids to see Lightning Thief. It was rated PG. I can't remember how the book was because I read that book when it first came out. The movie was really good and it held my kids' interest. There were a few scary characters from mythology on there that freaked them out but they liked it. I hope they do more movies for the rest of the series. Then we took the kids to the Cocoa Bean Cupcake Cafe for cupcakes. Who doesn't love cupcakes, right? I picked a drenched chocolate one out and ate it with the delight. The kids and Clayton did not. Their cupcakes were dry. Don't think we go back unless it for the chocolate one that I ate. MMmmm.
Sunday: I made the kids pancakes with a strawberry and whipped cream face. We spent the morning playing and relaxing. Church was great. Kids weren't too crazy all day which made it nice. For dinner, we had sour cream pork chops with a strawberry heart shaped cake (that husband made). We all watched Night in the Museum 2 together. We had a nice weekend and to top it off..I got to sleep in today (Monday)!

Busy week

Sorry no pictures. I have been so busy this week to a point where I am sure to have a nervous breakdown. First, I have a student teacher in my room over the next 10 weeks. I thought it would be a welcome relief to give her things to teach but I am more exhausted and it is tiring work. Then grades had to be put in and it was down over the Christmas break so I had a huge pile to get in. Parent teacher conferences were on Thursday. I didn't meet with alot. I met with most of my students'  parents. The one that I wanted to talk to of course didn't show. My own children are doing great in class. Brayden is started to read more and more each day. He is reading near the end of his grade level. Lyndee knows all of her alphabet and sounds. They finally let her check out a library book. Yippee! Sometimes I wish that they would treat Kindergarten with more rigor toward the middle of the year to get them ready for first. Just my opinion. My house is feeling very neglected and wil...

Day 5 -- Vacation

On Wednesday, our last day in the land of the heat. We went to the Mesa Southwest Museum. I guess it is call the Museum of Natural History. In all my years living in the valley and in Eagar, we never went to this museum. It rocked! I wished that I could take my students there. This room was all black with flourescent lighting. The kids could write on those white board with light wands. Whatever the kids wrote would be gone in about 20-30 seconds. It was pretty cool. I loved the interactive the stuff. I have been wanting to do this for years with my classroom. I have wanted them to create their plays. Then act them out in front of a green screen and then use a computer program to put their scenery in. I think I am going to find a grant and write one! Sister Lou loved being on T.V.
