Busy..Busy...Busy...
I have been super busy with life, family, work, and school. I don't know if I have mentioned this but I decided to head back to school and get my master's. I am trying to get my master's in ESL (English as a Second Language). This is truly something that I enjoy. After working 6 years in the 97% Hispanic schools, I have come to enjoy working with kids and helping them learn English. However, I found that the strategies that I used with them work with low to high kids that are fluent in English as well. It made me a better teacher. Why a master's? Well, this is what I hope to achieve. I want to teach college students that are in the teacher program ESL strategies for the classroom. I am taking my first class and it is kicking me in the tushy. It is philosophy of education. I have enjoyed it and my next class is teaching diverse learners. I can't wait! Until October 20, I have 5 1800 word essays and one huge 17 page paper. So I am going to be super busy with this. Good luck to me...
On another good note, we bought a WII fit plus last month and I have lost 12 pounds so far with it along with walking with my friend and I feel great! We've been eating lighter and less calories. I even gave up drinking milk. I think I was lactose intolerant because eliminating that I feel less bloated. Sorry..too much information there. I increased my water to 64-80 ounces a day. Now that I am back to work. I forget to drink my water while I am teaching. I even got husband and kids doing exercises on the WII. I have been getting up at 5 (kids and husband won't join me) and work out for about 30 minutes. I look forward to that time alone. I have been proud of myself because I am a size smaller in my clothes and I can run without getting short of breath. Yay for me! I have my 20 year reunion next year so I need to get it together to look good.
The kids have been adjusting to school. However, son hates homework. I hate homework on the weekends. But what can I do? Sister Lou loves school but I am not sure how she behaves. I am worried with her recent diagnosis of PDD-Nos that she will be socially inept. I still don't understand what all of it is about. I do know that it is on the autism spectrum and it is a mild one. It explains alot for me. I have no worries about what she is learning because K can be a waste of time and I think she might be bored in class. Well, that is about all. Hope all is fine with everyone.
I think I have a great class this year except for a couple of stinkers. They are going to be a challenge as a lot of them lack skills and they are not reading at grade level. SO exhaustion...here I come!
