Best Non-Apple Pie of the Summer


Howdy there! This was our dessert from our Fourth of July. Yes, in the 90 degree heat, I baked a fake apple pie. It tastes just like apple but those are not apples. 

We had the Spanish speaking missionaries over for dinner the night before the fourth and I made this pie to test it out on them . The perfect guinea pigs.... I did not tell anyone that it was not really apple pie per se and the kids didn't see me make it because they were too busy bouncing on the tramp.  I told everyone that it is a new apple pie recipe and if it is gross, I will have cookies on stand by. Clayton and everyone else started eating it and there were not complaints. I even took a bite. It was better than my own old stand by apple pie. I couldn't believe it. The only thing it was missing was whipped cream. Oh yaaa!

So I whipped up another the next day for our family dessert that evening. I fooled everyone again. It was delicious. As you can tell, I do not know how to lattice a pie crust nor do I have time but I figured that the new name for the top is cross cross top crust. This pie is da bomb! Serious. The recipe is top secret at least for the pie crust it is.

 To end the summer, Brayden was estatic to go in the little dune buggy with our neighbor. Lyndee went in it as well. It was lots of fun until it broke.  We went for a drive to Driggs. We have never been there until this summer. Beautiful place!  I have perfected the kebab. So yummy!  Lyndee is trying on one of her new school outfits. When picking up Brayden from practice, I couldn't help but notice the beautiful rainbow that Heavenly Father displayed for me. Hi, So, I haven't felt the urge to blog. I don't think I am depressed or anything. I just haven't felt like it. I am going to do better.   For Halloween 2015, Lyndee was in my classroom. She was a goddess. Brayden was a 5th grader and he did his Grid kid jersey. I was a hippie.   Here is a few Christmas 2015 pictures. We decided to make our own personal pizza for Christmas eve. It was easy peasy. Might do that again.  Lyndee turned 10 on the 31st of December 2015.  Brayden played basketball again. His team wasn't that great, but he was.  In June, on the day after school, we did the Color Run at Snake River Landing in Idaho Falls. It was loads of fun and we got real dirty. :)

Lyndee's BaPtiSm

My baby girl turned 8 last Monday. On Saturday, she was baptized. This was a very special and exciting day for her. This is a very important event in the life of person who is in the LDS faith. It is spiritual occasion and filled with tears of joy and happiness.  She wore a beautiful white dress and white shoes. This is to symbolize the purity. When you are baptized, all sins are erased and you are clean. White represents that serenity.   One of my friends made this cake for Lyndee. It was so delicious. Under the fondant, it was a white cake with a raspberry filling layer.  We are getting ready to go to the church for it but we had to do a photoshoot.  Her grandma had this towel made for her on this special day. At Lyndee's baptism, she had to be baptized twice because her feet came up. It was a good experience and the girl after her had it done too.
