My talented mommy

Oh no! You didn't . Yes, I did... post this picture of you...mom.. Sorry but this is the only recent picture I have of you.
 Meet my mother. I won't say how old she is or her name to protect her innocence. I do know she doesn't eat alot of chocolate because of migraines, but I have seen her slip m&m cookies in her mouth. She doesn't like bbq sauce alot and will eat it when I cook it because I love bbq sandwiches. She is not a spicy fan but eat it when I cook it. She is a neat freak but will come into my home and deal with my mess for at least a day or two until she has had enough and pulls up her sleeves to pitch in. She saves me recipes, magazines, and newspaper clippings because she knows how much I love it. My back home people know her. She is wonderful even if she still lives in Arizona and I don't say it enough and tell her how I much I appreciate her.

She sends my kids packages during the holidays or just because. She comes and visits us even riding the shuttle from SLC and enduring a 4 hour trip on the shuttle bus. I wasn't always the perfect person that I am now. (you believe that). She had to put up with alot of my spunkiness and attitude. I can't wait to experience that with my own kids. (not really)

So anyways, she likes to knit. Her latest and greatest stuff are these awesome purses. She knits them with some type of yarn. Then she felts them which I have no clue what that means. They look great. Since I really hate shoulder bags..really I do and I have one in my closet. She made me my first purse last year to hold or clutch. I guess I get that fear from living in the city.

Here are the ones that I have below. The one with the little red car in front is the one that I am using now because it is fall. I use the brown one all the other times. The black one I will use as well. I tell she should sell these on etsy or at craft fairs. Right now she just finished knitting me a red and cream one for Christmas. I told her that blue one would be nice...one with nice wintry colors. She is learning how to knit flowers to embellish the purses. She won't sell and makes them exclusively for ME just me. How awesome is that!
She also just knitted my daughter and I matching socks...can't wait to see them. Did I tell you how awesome my mom is? Thank you mom for these awesome delights.

Busy week

Sorry no pictures. I have been so busy this week to a point where I am sure to have a nervous breakdown. First, I have a student teacher in my room over the next 10 weeks. I thought it would be a welcome relief to give her things to teach but I am more exhausted and it is tiring work. Then grades had to be put in and it was down over the Christmas break so I had a huge pile to get in. Parent teacher conferences were on Thursday. I didn't meet with alot. I met with most of my students'  parents. The one that I wanted to talk to of course didn't show. My own children are doing great in class. Brayden is started to read more and more each day. He is reading near the end of his grade level. Lyndee knows all of her alphabet and sounds. They finally let her check out a library book. Yippee! Day 5 -- Vacation

On Wednesday, our last day in the land of the heat. We went to the Mesa Southwest Museum. I guess it is call the Museum of Natural History. In all my years living in the valley and in Eagar, we never went to this museum. It rocked! I wished that I could take my students there. This room was all black with flourescent lighting. The kids could write on those white board with light wands. Whatever the kids wrote would be gone in about 20-30 seconds. It was pretty cool. I loved the interactive the stuff. I have been wanting to do this for years with my classroom. I have wanted them to create their plays. Then act them out in front of a green screen and then use a computer program to put their scenery in. I think I am going to find a grant and write one! Sister Lou loved being on T.V.
