Student of the Month

Image
Someone here got student of the month! We have been so proud of his leaps and gains this year. I am so glad that he is catching on and becoming quite a smart cookie! He is such a sweet boy just like his mama.

Sweet Honey Flowers

Image
My daughter is such a precious little thing. She was outside picking this gorgeous bouquet of dandelions. She called them 'honey' flowers and proceeded to tell me that bumble bees like them because of their sweet honey.

Lookie here! A new do for church today

Image
Okay..Not me! Check out my daughter's do below....This is a shot by my personal photographer. No,  I am not flarting. I am just being silly with my son. Erica, notice my highlights.. :) This shot is the top of her head (if you can't tell :)   This cute lil' do was so easy. I took a section and then I split it into two sections and proceeded to tie her the two sections into a half knot. Then with each end, I wrapped it around three times. Then I pulled and it tightens into that. It is suppose to stay in. Well, we will see if it will stay thru church. (notice my white fridge...I can't plug it in at school because they are conserving energy...so husband thought it looked cool in the middle of my floor in the basement family room. It should be in the unfinished part of the basement..but we are finishing it.) Although it would look nicer out in the garage, huh?

New Bedding From IKEA

Image
Over Spring Break, we went to IKEA down in Draper, UT. That IKEA isn't as big as the one in Tempe. Imagine that! We let the kids pick out new comforters (well duvet covers) for their beds. They are coming to an age where Spiderman and Cinderella need to go. Even as sad as it is that they are growing up, I need to accept it as much as I can without getting depressed.  So we told them, they could do patterns and colors. Above is what my son picked out. He was cool with blues and we don't even need to switch out their curtains. My son likes orange and I was kind of hoping he would pick out this cool retro orange cover but he didn't and I am okay with that. This is my daughter's pillowcase..I had to do an up close shot because the sun was coming in through pretty strong.  Yes, we have SUN today! Makes me want to stay home from church and just lay on our trampoline and soak up the rays. Hey MOM, do you think some cute little pillows would look cute on your grandson and gran

The race is on!

Nothing like wearing winter coats and jammies for our Easter egg hunt outside before conference this past Sunday. It was around 32 degrees. I hid (threw) 35 eggs all around the yard even the back area by the trampoline. I threw them on the ground to be really noticeable for my daughter but big brother didn't leave them behind for her. What an egg hoarder! Reminds me of my own brother that would get to them before me. Yup! That's right I had a couple on our trampoline. See that white stuff in the distance. It snowed while we were away for our spring (winter) break. After they counted up their eggs, they enjoyed them. Daughter takes after me and likes only the white part. However, brother scarfed the whole thing down. yolk and all! The rest of the day was relaxing. We stayed in our jammies and just enjoyed our family time.

Easter Dessert Goodness

Image
Yesterday, I slaved in the kitchen for Easter dinner. I made this yummy dessert in my ramekins. I usually don't use recipes in magazines because they are too hard or I don't have the ingredients on hand. But...this Easter, these looked really easy and I knew that I should atleast try. My husband has begged me for years (we've been married for 14 years) to have lemon meringue pie for the holidays. I am not a fan of it. This dessert kind of comes close and it satisfied his 14 year old craving. He wants to make it a tradition for our Easter dinner. Here is the recipe .

Strawberry season!

Image
Yup! They are all gone! Strawberries were 6.99 a flat down at Waansgard's in Ogden over the weekend. I was tempted to buy 2 flats but just bought one. But...you guessed it. I made some yummy freezer jam. We had some with our rolls for our Easter dinner and the jam was great better than using a spread! Anyways, I made 12 of those puppies and guess what if you are the first to comment and you live in my neck of the woods. I will share a container with you.

Easter coloring activity

We went over to my husband's brother's fiancee house on Friday night. We met and totally approved of her (like we had a say anyways since husband and his brother are not huge communicators to each other). The kids dyed Easter eggs and had lots of fun. My son and daughter are excited to get a new aunt and a new cousin that is around my son's age. Yay! Finally......

Nothing gets better than this!

So we weren't going to make it to the Temple Square this trip around but we couldn't resist it. We were heading north from Draper after we scarfed down our In N Out Burgers. The driving conditions were horrible as we were in the middle of  a whiteout blizzard. We had no clue where the mountains were or the exit was.  Then all of sudden it was clear with blue sky over the temple area and then we knew where to get off of the freeway. I swear if it did not clear off we would have kept on going towards Ogden We were able to find parking lot. Then it remained clear until we were done. How amazing was that!  We havent been to Temple Square since my son was about 8 months old. They enjoyed it. I really enjoyed the questions and inquiries from my son. They were really well-behaved in here. I really loved the simple messages on this board. Makes me want to become a better person. I love how the spirit touched me as we walked through the exhibits especially this one. Nothing gets better
