My Prison Cell for Nine Months.....just kidding

Image
I usually do not post pictures of my classroom. I at one point was doing a classroom blog but I don't have time or will in the future. I am still teaching a BYUI class as my spare time job. I teach a new course this semester. I wished that they would leave me in one course that I like but I guess I will go where I am needed and maybe it is divine inspiration and one of the students needs me. I am just going to think that. :) I decided to go back to my beach/Hawaii theme for my room. I love the bright colors and it makes me happy. My teacher friend gave me a little kid's pew from her mom and I put it back in my reading area. I can see fights over that. I put pillows and beach towels under my counter for independent reading time along with some dollar tree lanterns that have an LED light. Nice and cheap. Not sure how long they will last. I am covering the book shelves eyesore with some ocean-like curtains. This year Brayden will be in my grade level. I really wish he was in m

Football Season

Image
This year Brayden will be playing tackle football with all of his fourth grade friends. I am not sure if I like it or not. Flag seemed so much easier and fun. He played all the time. The teams had less players on it. Now, he is on a team with 25 other little boys that want to play just as much. But when he does play, he tackles the other boys. They have him on defense which I think is dumb. He is a runner and super fast but what do I know. He is having a fun time being a part of the team. Everyone except Clay and I have tried the football gear on. :)

Baked Tacos

Image
Well, we have discovered and easy way to use all of the shells, meat, and cheese. My kids like them plain and so do we. We put taco sauce on them when we eat them. They are the best and I don't think I could go back and eat them the old fashioned way. I thought I pinned this on pinterest but I could not find it. So here it isl: Ingredients: 1 lb. lean ground beef 1 can refried beans 8 oz can tomato sauce (the small one) 1 pkg taco seasoning 1 and 1/2 cups shredded cheese 1 or 2 pkgs stand and sit taco shells (depends how many you want to fill and how much you put in each)    toppings, such as lettuce, tomatoes, sour cream, avocado, cilantro, etc. Directions: 1. Brown ground beef and drain off any fat. Stir in refried beans, tomato sauce, and seasoning. Bring to a simmer and mix well. 2. Remove from heat. Spoon meat mixture into taco shells standing them up in a 9 X 13 pan as you go. 3. Tuck a couple of tablespoons of cheese onto each filled taco. 4. Bake at

Eye Issues

Image
So last, last Thursday, I took the kids to the eye doctor to get their eyes checked before school starts. They were super fine. Then it was my turn. The doctor is looking in my eyes and then starts putting numbing drops in my eyes and then puts a shining blue light on my eye. He is telling me that I have a hemorrhage in my left eye and that he needed to dilate my eyes and take a picture to see it. It was freaking me out and I think it freaked him out too because he does not see this every day. So I came back on Monday to get them dilated, it was joyful. First I could still text and play games on my phone and then I was blind as a bat. I had a visual field test done before they were dilated and then some bright flashy pictures taken of my eyes. He even numbed them still and looked with the blue light thingy again. The pressure in my eyes were 24 and 27 and the hemorrhage indicates glaucoma. I guess that I lost some of my side peripheral vision because of it. That makes sense because I h

Created something again....

I found this awesome wood craft store in the Idaho Falls area. It has wood cutouts. I used to tole paint back in the 90s so I was super excited. Now people mod podge here and there with the wood and not so much paint.  So I bought our last name. I spray painted the letter blacks and then mod podged scrap book paper to the front of it. Super easy. It needs some ribbon and I will get that later.I think it looks super cool. I am going to make one for my class with fun colors and such.

Football starts this week

Last Monday, we drove to Pocatello to get Brayden his football socks and shoes. Cant you tell that he is super excited? Tonight is his first practice. He will be playing tackle football this time around, no flag. I hope that he will endure this.

Powder Puff Pinewood Derby

Lyndee had her father/daughter activity last Wednesday while Brayden and I went up to BYUI to pre register for the education week last week. Well, I think they had a good time. I don't get much from both of them. Anyways, Lyndee's car was a crapper performer. It didn't even make it to the bottom so she used a loaner. Yay for that! I think the weight that I put on was too close to the front., Then I had issues with the wheels. Now I know I need to buy the car kit from Michaels and not the local store in town because it was missing some parts and I didn't have time. So there you have it we suck at car design. :)
